With the effects of climate change becoming ever more apparent, companies are under pressure to understand and control carbon emissions and reduce their negative environmental impacts. Business Sustain can help by measuring your carbon footprint and identify any environmental 'hotspots'.
Carbon footprinting is the process of measuring, calculating and
reporting the greenhouse gases (GHGs) we produce with any activity or
service. Carbon dioxide is the most common of the GHGs that contribute
to changes in our climate. The carbon footprint is a measurement
of all greenhouse gases we individually produce and
is measured in tonnes (or kg) of carbon dioxide equivalent.
Assessing a carbon footprint can identify opportunities and priorities for business to significantly improve productive efficiency, energy efficiency and waste minimisation, thereby saving costs. It also may be required for a variety of reasons including complying with legislation such as those companies in the EU (Carbon) Emissions Trading Scheme and complying with customer or investor requests. It also gives a measure of business sustainability as part of corporate responsibility and be used to set and achieve reduction targets.

Saving energy is well established as one of the most effective ways we can all reduce our carbon footprint. With traditional fuels and conventional forms of electrical generation dependent on carbon-rich fossil fuels, the less energy we consume, the smaller our carbon footprint becomes. In the long run, energy saving and minimising your carbon footprint are two sides of exactly the same coin.
There are many different carbon calculators available on line; some are easier to use than others. Check out the following:
